a delicate dwarf with 1` bulbs topped by a pair of thin plicate wide 6` leaves that may become deciduous in winter, numerous pendulous 3` spikes appear randomly on matured new growths producing several proportionately large 3` to 4` star-shaped downward facing flowers, blooms are dark red with occasional pale yellow striping, white lip has a tuft of white hairs, spring/summer bloomer.
