tapered 5` pseudobulbs are covered with papery sheaths on older bulbs, 12` to 15` plicate green leaves, 10` basal spikes appear successively during summer/fall and each carries over a dozen 2` male flowers or about 5 female blooms, males are green spotted maroon with an impressive bristly white lip, hairs on column eject pollen when touched, longer lasting female flowers are green with a green Dutch shoe-like lip.
