a wonderful compact member of this genus, appropriately named the hyacinth orchid, 3`-4` inch bulbs topped with a single 6` keeled leathery leaf, 4` flower spikes appear from a sheath at the base of the leaf in spring, early summer, tiny brilliant hot pink flowers are densely arranged in a 3` long cylinder, giving the appearance of a hyacinth.
