  • oval 1-1/2` bulbs are spaced 1` apart along the wandering rhizome, bulbs are topped with a single thick spatulate dark green 8` leaf, numerous basal spikes up to 8` carry a single large golden yellow 3-1/2` bloom with red stripes, flowers are widely spread with long tapering petals and an upright dorsal sepal, magnificent curved creamy yellow lip is spear-shaped and rocks back and forth on a hinge launching its pollinator into the column.
