rarely seen true terrestrial that goes deciduous in winter, a single potato-like annual tuber produces new growths in late spring, a pair of long petioled 30` tall widely plicate leaves, erect 36` spikes carry a large spearhead of beautiful intricate 1` blooms, arching sepals and petals are golden yellow streaked with red, lip is reddish-brown, no water while leafless.
